Cotswolds

Sports Activities...

The region is famous for sporting activities, some well known (rugby, cricket and horse racing) and others maybe not quite so well known (motor racing, cheese rolling, sailing and river sports.)

There are many golf courses nearby; The Vale, Tewkesbury Park and Puckrup Hall Clubs are the nearest '18 hole' clubs, but there are alternatives (e.g. Sherdons) for a 'cheaper' day out.

There's horse racing at Cheltenham; and also at Worcester and Stratford-upon-Avon Race Courses.

The oldest operational motor-sport venue in the world is based at Shelsley Walsh, while Prescott Hill hosts a similar event, not quite so far away.

If you really want to find an unusual sporting event - you could watch the Cheese Rolling event at Cooper's Hill, which is held in May each year - just south of Cheltenham. Enter the competition at your own peril!

"The surrounding towns provide good supermarkets and cafes. Tewkesbury is beautiful. However I have preferred to just “stay on the farm” and take it all in. Switch off your phone and just unplug from busy lifestyles. I can't recommend the cottage enough."     Amy & Richard - Rugby
